Job Description
AI Justice’s Children’s Legal Project is currently seeking a recently admitted attorney to represent vulnerable undocumented immigrant children and youth. Bar membership required, preferably in Florida.
Qualifications
• Preference for experience in immigration law, including experience with Special Immigrant Juvenile, asylum, VAWA, T and/or U visa cases.• Preference for experience in family, child welfare and/or juvenile law related matters.
• Preference for experience working with domestic violence victims and/or other victims of trauma.
• Strong writing, research and analytical skills; strong communication and group leadership skills.
• Interest in policy advocacy at the national level.
• Excellent presentation skills for community outreach, education and training.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Ability to work well with people of diverse educational, cultural and professional backgrounds.
• Bilingual English and Spanish required.

Duties
The legal assistant provides administrative support to a team of legal professionals serving low-income women and children, who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking or trafficking. This includes accurate data entry, creation of reports, translating documents from Spanish into English, interpreting for Spanish-speaking clients at interviews or hearings, composing and typing letters.Qualifications
• Experience with victims of domestic violence preferred.• Clear understanding of client confidentiality and on-line security issues essential.
• Accurate data entry skills, knowledge of MS Office and general computer skills needed.
• Good writing skills in English and written and oral fluency in Spanish necessary.
• Excellent people skills and ability to work independently.
Education
High school degree required; Associate’s degree preferred.

Duties
The Data Entry Associate enters new client information in multiple database systems and updates information as services are provided and cases closed. Position creates client files (both paper and digital), prepares letters to clients, and files documents and correspondence. Provides relief to the receptionist for lunch and breaks.Qualifications
• Knowledge of computers and software applications, especially database systems and Microsoft Office.• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices as well as administrative and clerical procedures.
• Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task.

Duties
AI Justice is seeking a qualified, full-time paralegal for its detention work. The Paralegal visits the Broward Transitional Center (BTC) in Pompano Beach, Florida at least six times per month, and other detention centers as needed; assists attorneys with Know Your Rights Presentations, interviews detainees at detention centers; translates for clients and/or attorneys at interviews, hearings or presentations; prepares release requests for detainees; monitors conditions, treatment of detainees, and grievances at detention centers and reports patterns of abuse to supervisor; Interviews clients, determines income eligibility, and writes comprehensive statements by clients, including details of their arrest, conditions of confinement, and asylum claim.Qualifications
• Previous BIA accreditation helpful.• Experience in public interest law, particularly immigration law, helpful.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office required. Knowledge of client database systems helpful.
• Excellent people skills.
• Written and verbal proficiency in Spanish and English required.
• Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation needed.

• AA degree required.• BA degree preferred.
